The National Inspectorate of Territory Protection with the support of the State Police is freeing the spaces along the national roads from illegal interventions and developments. The collection sites of motor vehicles, trailers, as well as their spare parts, vehicles out of use along the roads are prohibited by law. During the first phase of this process, voluntary removal will be required from the owners of these collection sites.
Interior Minister Taulant Balla closely followed an IKMT action on the Tirana-Durrës highway, for the cleaning of old motor vehicles, scrap yards, etc.
"There is a law that forces every business to stay 1 km away from the main road. Then, worse than that, parking cars on the road is a source of accidents. We want your understanding to take the measures, but don't forget that this is not only related to the security aspect, but above all it is related to a cleaning that we want to do to the wings of all the roads of Albania. The State Police will also be involved here. You should not only support the IKMT, but in implementation of the order, you should directly contact all the businesses that must comply with the law. Also take care of the removal of these vehicles that are parked irregularly and are a source of accidents".
According to the minister, initially citizens are sent a notification about the voluntary cleaning of waste by citizens, and only after this stage, other procedures will be followed according to the plan of measures of IKMT.
Meanwhile, the General Director of IKMT, Ervin Hoxha, explained all the procedures that are expected to be followed by this institution for the release of spaces near national roads.
"In the plan of measures that we have drawn up, we have set a deadline which will be announced to the subjects. At the end of this period, we will start with supplementary measures, punishment of subjects, blocking and sequestration. Modalities and documentation are drawn up. This is not a campaign that seeks to harm the business, but an action that seeks to stabilize, normalize and formalize this business like any other business. This activity will be spread throughout the country and requires the attention and understanding of the citizens".
The law for this purpose was approved over 10 years ago, while the Minister of the Interior announced other by-laws to guarantee the correct operation of the law.
