What happened to the fashions that brought about the government's response

Exporters have been among the most affected sectors and have had great financial losses due to the devaluation of the euro during the past year, a trend which continues even now. Referring to data from the "Pro Export Albania" association, exporters lose nearly 9 million euros per month from the exchange rate, a situation that has been going on since March and is not stabilizing. As a result, an average of 50 jobs per day have been closed, negatively affecting the economies of thousands of families employed in this industry.

For this reason, in September 2023, the Unifying Office of Export Businesses, based on a study done on the consequences in the sector, has sent an official letter to the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Albania with concrete requests.

Exporters have requested that measures be taken to reduce payments in hand, de-euroization of the economy, through discouraging the use of currency in transactions within the country; Determining a maximum amount that exchange offices are allowed to carry out, limiting the carrying out of transactions in large values; as well as borrowing by the government in the domestic market in the national world.

While from the Ministry of Finance, they requested to approve a supplementary budget in the form of a subsidy; temporary subsidy of wages and social security for employees, incentives for the application of new technologies as well as restructuring of tax payment.

But since these requests were not taken into account, in the month of December, several exporting associations and organizations for the protection of workers' rights have come together to ask the government to take measures for this situation.

But in response to these requests, government representatives have stated that companies in this sector should focus on investments towards closed-cycle production. The customer material sector employs over 75,000 people throughout the country.
