Exports of agricultural products have increased by nearly 3.1 billion ALL in the first 5 months of the year, registering 24.3 billion ALL, and they have also exceeded in quantity. But what is the most demanded product from international markets?

The official data of the General Directorate of Customs, show that in the total amount of exports of 167 thousand tons, the tomato is the most sold agricultural product, occupying a weight of 16.45 percent in relation to the total.

Specifically, in just 5 months, 27.5 thousand tons of tomatoes were exported with a value of 2.2 billion ALL. The second best-selling category consists of cabbage, cauliflower and white turnip products, which account for 12.47 percent of total exports. For the period January-May 2023, nearly 20.9 thousand tons were exported, worth 1.17 billion ALL.

Cucumbers also occupy a significant space at 10.55% of total exports. During the 5 months, nearly 17.6 thousand tons, with a value of 1.4 billion ALL, were traded in the regional, European and wider markets.

While other greens, fresh or cold, account for 5.1% of total exports, in about 8.6 thousand tons or 1 billion ALL. Only the agricultural sector, excluding livestock, fishing and agro-industry, has reached an export value of 10.6 billion ALL in 5 months./ SCAN
