Two weeks ago, the price of oil in international markets fell for the first time down from the level it was before the start of the war in Ukraine.
A barrel sold for $90 to $94. But it took the Awards Board a few days to learn this news, and after learning it was collected and lowered oil by 1 lek, in a decision that could be considered the biggest mockery since the founding of this board.
The ridiculous price reduction followed criticism and irony from citizens. The board responded after three days, this time lowering the price of a litre of oil by 4 lek.
So within five days, the Board lowered the price of oil by 5 lek in total, although in stock exchanges prices had fallen below the level that was before the start of the war in Ukraine.
The announcement that Ukraine had closed the oil pipeline towards Central Europe produced the opposite effect on stock exchanges, where the price of oil rose again slightly.
The sensitive board gathered within 24 hours and quickly decided to increase the price by five leks. All of the Board's activity, which took five days to lower oil by 5 pounds, but only a few hours to increase it reinforces the belief that more than citizens, this board is serving oil oligarchs.
