In the first four months of the year, the government collected 163 million euros or 9.7% more revenue in the budget. But in April, for the first time, incomes grew less than inflation, signaling an economic slowdown.

The locomotive that led the budget increase last year, the VAT or as it is otherwise known the consumption tax, has suffered a decline this year. The greatest effect on the fall of VAT was given by what is collected for imported goods, while the April figures showed the strong fall suffered by foreign trade also due to the devaluation of the euro. The drop in fuel prices is also another negative factor for the indicator. Compared to the same period a year ago, there are 320 million less in the budget.

Already, the biggest weight in the budget increase is carried by the tax on profit and on personal income. Businesses have poured 43.9% more taxes into the state coffers, while the increase in the minimum and average wages in the private sector brought 23.5% more to the budget, exceeding the plan.

On the expenditure side, the government continues to be stingy, continuing the problem of not planning well. In four months, expenses increased by ALL 3.4 billion and were realized to the extent of 88.1% of the plan.

Meanwhile, the budget surplus reached ALL 33.9 billion, an increase of 78.6%. Deputies and experts have often criticized the budget distribution that is all accumulated in the last two months of the year./ TCH
