With local elections on the horizon, Sali Berisha aims to bring the protesters who have been gathering on the boulevard for 125 days closer to the opposition.

From Korça, the chairman of the Democratic Party made the first public invitation for the 2027 local race.

Berisha : As a party, we are trying to create a broad opposition front and will accept proposals for candidates. I also invite the representatives of the protest, we are ready to consider any of their proposals.

Sali Berisha proposed the idea that local elections be held in two rounds, with municipalities being led by the candidate who secures the majority of votes.

Berisha: I agree with the runoff for local elections. The one who will be elected must receive an absolute majority of voters.

On Saturday, Berisha called a meeting of traditional allies to begin talks on local elections.
