Ilir Meta/Metaj, was not able to give an answer as to why the "September Revolution", so much warned throughout the summer, failed. His protest at the Tirana incinerator practically sent the opposition's hopes for unity and a joint battle to the Sharra cemetery in September.
The two together, Berisha and Meta/Metaj, apparently want to test each other before joining. Not trusting each other, they want to test each other with concrete proofs of loyalty.
Concretely, Meta/Metaj will test Berisha, if he will support the State Security collaborators law, which practically excludes Meta/Metaj from politics. Lulzim Basha's wing has supported him in principle.
However, Meta/Metaj does not ask Berisha to save him with votes, but to line him up on his side in this battle, so that he doesn't look like a desperate drowned man, who no one gives him a hand in his last political hours.
The proof that Berisha must give for Meta/Metaj is that he attacks the position of Lulzim Basha's wing, as led by Edi Rama, and compels them, in order to abandon the draft law which actually requires 84 votes to amend the Electoral Code and the law on the integrity of high officials and politicians.
Berisha can give himself time and a few weeks to think about this issue and until then don't expect a united opposition.
In response to Berisha, if he does not support him, Meta/Metaj seems to continue his strategy of sabotaging the unity of the opposition, deflating all of Berisha's opposition action and leaving him on the streets as a desperate faction of the democrats.
Berisha must take the first step and Mr. Meta must come forward not only to the file law, but also to the lawsuits filed against him in SPAK, with at least four cases. If Berisha doesn't do it, he will continue to suffer the crisis of Meta's oppositional non-cooperation, both of whom on their own, the stronger they are, the less they are.
Oppositions usually unite principles and common causes. But this happens when the opposition leaders are free politicians and not politicians with family problems. Berisha and Meta/Metaj are politicians with personal problems, so their conception in a coalition cannot be done without sacrificing for each other's problems. This is the reason why they cannot unite without giving evidence of public loyalty to each other.
It's more or less like in mafia organizations, they don't accept you unless you kill one of your own to become trustworthy. Berisha is not that he has any mercy to give evidence against Alibeaj or Basha, but in fact, more than their murder, this is his suicide. Just like Meta/Metaj should.
