The director of the Shkodra Police, Ervin Hodaj, appeared at a press conference where he gave details on the criminal events that have recently occurred in the district he leads.
Hodaj announced that the murder of Zef Guri and the wounding of his son, Gjin Guri, which happened in Dukagjin, has been revealed. The police suspect that the perpetrator is Gjovalin Guri, who is wanted. Hodaj said that it turns out that he is also wanted for other criminal events and offenses.
"For the capture of the citizen Gj. G., the structures of the Shkodër Local Police Directorate, the "RENEA" Special Department and the Alpine Unit have been engaged. Controls are currently continuing in the deep areas of Dukagjin", announced Hodaj.
It is suspected that the serious event happened after the conflicts and constant threats due to the occupation and use of forest spaces in that area.
Hodaj informed that the author is related to the victim and the injured.
"They are family ties that have had previous conflicts as well. The injured person is a person with significant criminal precedents and we are analyzing all these events in order to arrive at the complete documentation of the event, the wounding and killing of his father", said the police director.
Zef Guri, 73 years old, was killed on the evening of September 27. He was traveling in a pick-up truck towards Shkodra when he was shot on the road. As a result of the shooting, his son, Gjini, was injured, who is in the hospital in a serious condition.
The injured Gjin Guri is not an unknown name to the police. In 2015, then 38 years old, he appeared on the list of 10 wanted persons after he fired a gun at the police helicopter during a patrol to detect areas with cannabis. He was sentenced by the court to 7 years in prison.
While on November 15, 2021, a quantity of tritol was placed in his bar. The police are investigating several leads for this Wednesday's assassination, the main one being the dispute over the narcotics planted in the Dukagjin area.
