The incident in Vlora is revealed: The 33-year-old set fire to the

Vlora Police have revealed within 48 hours the authorship and circumstances of the burning of an apartment in the "Lef Sallata" neighborhood, an event that was initially suspected to be accidental.

A 33-year-old BiH citizen has been arrested, allegedly setting fire to the apartment door in the early hours of the morning, while two people, a brother and sister, were inside the apartment.

According to preliminary investigations, the motive for the incident is related to business competition, as the suspected perpetrator and the apartment owners were engaged in the same economic activity, that of renting out apartments in the city of Vlora.

As a result of the fire, considerable material damage was caused to the apartment, while fortunately no one was injured.

The police inform that immediately after the fire was reported, at around 02:40 on August 4, 2026, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Vlora Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Prosecution, carried out investigative and procedural actions that led to the identification, capture and arrest of the suspected perpetrator.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Vlora for further action, for the criminal offense of "Destruction of property by fire".
