The Court of Tirana dismissed the request for the termination of the security measure for Dritan Goxhajn, reasoning that it is unsupported by law and evidence. Goxhaj himself spoke at the hearing, describing his stay in custody as hostage-taking and deprivation of freedom. 

Goxhaj has also stated that the crimes he is accused of are alleged to have been committed in 2023, while the Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo have jurisdiction only for the period from 1998 to 2000.

Goxhaj:  I ask this court to have the courage and stop my hostage-taking carried out by the Albanian prosecutor's office under the guise of the Joint Criminal Enterprise called the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor and the Special Court of Kosovo.

I consider it a hostage taking and deprivation of liberty without the right to liberty since the institution of the prosecution in Albania, in deep ignorance in its request for my arrest and detention in prison, in point 11 of that request claims that I bear criminal responsibility for criminal offenses that are included in the jurisdiction of the Specialized Chambers of Kosovo. But, if they had taken the trouble to read only the official website of these Chambers, they would have come out of ignorance and would have read in black and white that these Chambers have jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute citizens of Kosovo and/or the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia or persons who have committed crimes against citizens of Kosovo and/or Yugoslavia,

I demand an end to this hostage-taking because, as seen in the jurisdiction of the criminal enterprise called the Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor of Kosovo, I was neither nor am I a citizen of Yugoslavia. Furthermore, the offenses of which that joint criminal enterprise accuses me and seeks my extradition are according to themselves alleged to have been committed in 2023, while they only have jurisdiction over the period from 1998 to 2000.

And above all, this criminal enterprise has the jurisdiction to investigate only for "Inhuman treatment of persons", while I am accused of two offenses that are not related to the jurisdiction declared by these Chambers and this Office of the Specialized Prosecutor.

I request loudly and with all my legal right that the court does not make the notary for the account of the Prosecution Institution but to read what I also read and stop this hostage-taking and restore my freedom that has been taken away from me.
