Accident in Tirana revealed: 65-year-old man fatally hit elderly woman and fled,

Tirana police have arrested two people, a father and son, after an accident that occurred on the "Durrës-Tirana" highway where a 74-year-old woman lost her life.

Tirana/Investigations and procedural actions continue to clarify the responsibilities and circumstances of the accident on the "Durrës-Tirana" highway.

The 65-year-old man who hit and killed 74-year-old MT citizen with a vehicle has been identified and arrested.

The 65-year-old's son was also arrested after they left the scene of the accident together, without providing assistance to the 74-year-old, and without notifying the Police.

The 32-year-old also hid the vehicle and repaired it to prevent the truth from being revealed.

The "Mercedes Benz" vehicle is found and seized.

As a result of the investigative actions carried out with the aim of identifying and apprehending the driver of the vehicle that fatally hit and killed citizen MT, 74 years old, at around 04:10 on 23.07.2026, on the "Durrës-Tirana" highway, as well as to clarify the circumstances of the accident, road traffic specialists identified, located and apprehended the suspected perpetrator of the case, citizen Xh. M., 65 years old, resident of Durrës.

Further, following the actions, the 65-year-old's son, citizen BM, 32 years old, resident of Durrës, a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident, was arrested.

The 2 arrested suspects are suspected of having left the scene of the accident immediately after the collision, without providing assistance to the 74-year-old woman, and without notifying the Police.

Subsequently, the 32-year-old is suspected of having hidden the Mercedes Benz vehicle involved in the accident, with the aim of preventing the truth from being revealed, and of having repaired the damage caused by the collision.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
