The Tirana Prosecution Office has closed the investigation into the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani and has sent the juvenile perpetrator, 14-year-old Marjo Përlleshi , to trial .

Përlleshi is accused of committing the criminal offense of 'Murder under qualifying circumstances' against a minor and against two or more persons, to the detriment of Martin Cani and Luis Meçja.

On the other hand, the Prosecutor's Office announces that it has initiated criminal proceedings for the criminal offense of "Abuse of Office" against school staff, regarding their actions or inactions.

The Prosecution announces that the investigations continue as it is necessary to carry out other investigative actions, with the aim of individualizing guilt and specific criminal responsibilities.

The Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, Tirana, completed the investigations and sent to trial the citizen MP, accused of committing the criminal offense of 'Murder under qualifying circumstances' against a minor and against two or more persons, provided for by Article 79, letters a) and dh) of the Criminal Code, to the detriment of the minors MC and LM.

After a complete and comprehensive investigation, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana has completed the investigations regarding criminal proceedings no. 7676, registered on 18.11.2024/

Also, the prosecution body has decided to separate the acts of this proceeding, the acts related to the criminal offense "Abuse of office", provided for by Article 248 of the Criminal Code, regarding the actions or omissions of the school staff, which have been registered in another proceeding, and for which the investigations continue as it is necessary to carry out other investigative actions, in order to individualize the guilt and specific criminal responsibilities.

Martin Cani, only 14 years old, was killed on November 18, 2024, a few meters from the "Fan Noli" school in Tirana. His friend, Luis Meçja, was also injured in the fight between the teenagers, and is now in good health.

On Friday, November 22, a court hearing was held at a private hospital in Tirana against the 14-year-old who stabbed his peer, Martin Cani, to death.

Judge Lorena Çabej, after hearing the parties, imposed the measure of "prison arrest" for Mario Përlleshi. The minor is accused as a suspect of committing the criminal offense of "Murder committed in qualifying circumstances"

Just one day ago (February 10), the Court of Appeals rejected the request of the perpetrator of the murder of the 14-year-old, leaving Mario Perlleshaj in the security measure of prison arrest.

Përlleshi had requested that the security measure be changed and that he be placed under "house arrest".

The 14-year-old is in the juvenile institution in Kavaja, and in December 2024 he opposed the security measure of "prison arrest".
