An Albanian was convicted for the murder of his compatriot in England.

Shpend Hakli, 38, killed Sazan Bako, 35, after a conflict in November last year.

Before Maidstone Crown Court, the 38-year-old said that a year ago, he met Henerik Bakon, the victim's brother, on a street in Strood, to whom he claims he owed £200,000. The author's brother was also present at the meeting.

The Hakli brothers were waiting for the money they say the victim owed them, while the brother also went to the meeting as the victim's mediator.

But, according to the testimony, Shpend Hakli hit Sazan Bako in the face.

The jury heard how Hakili, who denied manslaughter, lost his temper and punched the victim in the face "without warning or provocation".

"They believed that Henerik Bako was the instrument why Hakili was arrested and sentenced for drug trafficking in 2018," said the prosecutor.

The incident was caught on CCTV in Cuxton Road.

After the fight, the Bako brothers left. Upon arriving home, the 35-year-old took a shower and went to sleep, not to wake up again, according to his brother's testimony.

According to doctors, Sazan Bako suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, which proved fatal for him.

The 38-year-old, who was kept in custody, was convicted of manslaughter.
