An Albanian couple has been arrested by police authorities in Spain, accused of turning a home into a cannabis plantation with state-of-the-art equipment.
Spanish media report that 809 marijuana plants weighing over 177 kilograms were found and seized inside the " weed house ", while the detainees, after appearing in court, were remanded in custody.
The operation was executed by the Gandia Police Station, who destroyed a marijuana plantation in Ador, where they arrested a woman and a man, respectively 22 and 27 years old, of Albanian origin.
They have also been charged with a crime against public health and another for electricity fraud.
If the drug were to hit the market, it would bring in profits of hundreds of thousands of euros.
The investigation, conducted by officers from the Judicial Police Brigade, began after it was learned early last month that marijuana could be cultivated in a house in the town of Adori.
Police set up surveillance near the property, detecting a strong odor characteristic of this substance coming from it.
They also noticed other objective indicators that marijuana was being grown inside the house.
Officers also identified a couple as the usual residents of the home.
The operational intervention also revealed evidence, while electrical and plumbing installations serving cultivation, lamps, and an aspiration network had been made in the facility.
The arrested persons had no previous criminal records, and their imprisonment was ordered.
