Only 7 countries have not "violated" Albania/ Instat's strange
Tourists in Tirana

At a time when Albania has been 'flooded' by foreign tourists this year, as never before, there are also those countries that have 'ignored' it. More precisely, during the January-July period of this year, it turns out that there are 7 countries in the whole world from which no entry was registered in our country. More precisely they are: Belize, Eritrea, Greenland, Santa Lucia, Lesotho, Mayotte and British Indian Ocean Territory. The latter is a British overseas territory populated by no more than 3,000 inhabitants, all military personnel or contractors. The same applies to Mayotte, but as an overseas territory of France, and with a population of about 30 thousand inhabitants. In the case of Greenland, we are dealing with an autonomous territory of about 56 thousand inhabitants. The country with the largest population among them is Eritrea, with an estimated population of between 4 and 7 million. So in total, these 7 states do not represent more than 8-10 million inhabitants.

However, these are the only 7 localities from which Instat does not report any entry of foreign citizens into our country for the first 7 months of the year.

But there are some other figures that stand out from the analysis of the numbers, somehow questioning the quality of public statistics for the umpteenth time. If we look at the entry of citizens from North Korea into our country, they appear close to 1872. This figure seems absurd considering that it is the most isolated country in the world today. Even, according to Instat, tourists from North Korea in Albania these 7 months have been more numerous than those from South Korea, with 1760 of them. In fact, according to Instat, 1,759 of the 1,760 foreign citizens from South Korea who have entered Albania in these 7 months, all entered in the month of April, i.e. 99.95% of the total. According to these figures, North Korea ranks 6th among Asian countries in terms of the origin of foreign tourists in our country. These numbers clearly indicate an error in the data. Although it is about something less than 2,000 tourists, these figures once again undermine the credibility of public statistics in our country. Previously, questions were raised about indicators such as inflation, or even other indicators.

Other errors from these public statistics stand out, such as placing Scotland as a separate country, at a time when the United Kingdom is part of the list, despite the fact that only 5 entries are reported from Scotland in 7 months.

So, if the other numbers are correct, then it seems that Albania was visited this year by the vast majority of the countries of the world, and only citizens from 7 relatively small entities did not seem to have 'trampled' our land this year . Meanwhile, the problem of the quality of public statistics becomes more urgent every day to be solved.
