After the decision of the Constitutional Court that left in force the agreement of the Albanian government with the Albanian-American institute for the management of Butrint, UNESCO reacted, emphasizing that they are closely monitoring the state of conservation of the World Heritage property.

Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Lazare Eloundou Assomo, confirms that these concerns will be considered by the World Heritage Committee at its upcoming 46th session, to be held in New Delhi, India, from 21- July 31, 2024.

"Let's hope that this step taken by UNESCO does not precede the placement of Butrint on the list of world assets in danger", says the reaction of the Forum for the Protection of Cultural Heritage.
