The Shkodra Prosecution Office has registered criminal proceedings and launched investigations into the death of a 3-year-old boy a day ago in the Vau i Dejës area of ​​Shkodra, who is suspected of being poisoned by rat poison.

The investigative team has directed the Judicial Police services to the Vau i Dejës Police Station to carry out the first investigative actions.

It is learned that the Prosecutor's Office is conducting investigations into negligence in the medical treatment of the white shirts. Investigators will also verify the actions of the parents.

We recall that the 3-year-old boy passed away in Shkodra, while his 7-year-old sister is in critical condition and hospitalized at the University Hospital.

The parents, according to sources, sprayed a warehouse with rat poison. During the spraying of the warehouse, they had their children with them, who suffered severe intoxication.

Police official's reaction to the incident

In connection with this incident, the Police inform that on Friday (February 21) the two children were taken to the hospital by their father, with suspicions of seasonal viruses. After treatment, they were taken back to their apartment.

But because their condition had worsened, a day later, the father took them back to the hospital, but unfortunately the 3-year-old lost his life. While the 7-year-old was taken to the QSUT for specialized treatment.

Investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office to determine the cause of the 3-year-old's death.

"On 21.02.2025, citizen SH sent his 2 children, a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, suspected of having seasonal flu, for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital. After treatment, citizen SH and the 2 children left for their apartment.

Due to the worsening health condition of the children in the apartment, on 22.02.2025, citizen SH sent the 2 children back for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital.

Despite medical assistance, the 3-year-old boy lost his life, while the 7-year-old girl was taken to the QSUT for specialized treatment.

"Investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office to determine the cause of the 3-year-old's death ," the police announced.

But what does the Shkodra hospital declare?

According to the Shkodra Regional Hospital, the parents sent the minor boy to the hospital on Friday. The family was asked to keep the child under observation.

But the parents signed to take him home. The hospital claims that all protocols were followed.

The next day, the parents brought the child back in very serious condition and he was immediately taken to intensive care, where he died.

Sources at the Shkodra Regional Hospital indicate that the 3-year-old child presented on Saturday at around 10:00 am in serious condition with cardiac insufficiency (low pulse, very low vital signs), while 10 minutes after arriving at the hospital he passed away.

After about 20-30 minutes, his sister arrived at the Shkodra hospital with the same symptoms and was given first aid and immediately taken to the QSUT where she is in critical condition.

The health condition of the mother of two children, who is 37 weeks pregnant but has not presented herself at the Shkodra hospital, is unknown.
