An Albanian lost his life in an accident in Italy, while he was on his way to work. He was in the car with a compatriot and colleague when his "Ulisse" van collided with a "Volkswagen" car on regional road 439 in the municipality of Lajatico.
For 40-year-old Edmond Zero, an Albanian living in Fornacette in the municipality of Calcinaia, nothing could be done, despite the almost immediate intervention of two health workers who were at the scene. Edmondi, who came to Italy from Albania in search of a better life, left behind his wife and two children aged 11 and 6.
Seriously injured, but not life-threatening, are Edmond Zero's friend who was with him in the van and the Pomarance couple, husband and wife, who were traveling in the direction of Pontedera. The municipal police of Peccioli and Lajatico are investigating the causes of the accident.
It remains to be seen which of the two drivers lost control of the car and collided with the other. The collision was very violent. The two cars were destroyed.
Body parts and engines flew meters away. After the collision, they both ended up on the side of the road, on opposite sides, and both turned in the same direction.
