After the Shkodra hospital, the city police also reacted to the tragedy where a 3-year-old from Mjeda lost his life, while his 7-year-old sister is in critical condition.

Police say the parents sent their children to the Shkodra hospital on Friday, suspecting they were infected with seasonal viruses, and then left for their apartment.

The next day, Saturday, the father showed up with the two children at the hospital again, this time they were in critical condition.

According to sources from Shkodra Hospital, it is suspected that the children have suffered blood poisoning, while toxicology is expected to reveal the cause of the poisoning.

Police announcement:

On 21.02.2025, citizen SH sent his 2 children, a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy, suspected of having seasonal flu, for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital. After treatment, citizen SH and the 2 children left for their apartment.

Due to the worsening health condition of the children in the apartment, on 22.02.2025, citizen SH sent the 2 children back for treatment to the Pediatrics Department at the Shkodra Regional Hospital.

Despite medical assistance, the 3-year-old boy lost his life, while the 7-year-old girl was taken to the QSUT for specialized treatment.

Investigations are continuing under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office to determine the cause of the 3-year-old's death.
