Five people, all related to each other, went swimming in the Drin River in Gjorica, Bulqiza, late yesterday afternoon. It is suspected that a girl, about 7 years old, drowned.

Sources from the Bulqiza Police indicate that, while they were bathing, the level of the Drin River increased after the gates of the hydroelectric power plant in Dibër e Madhe were opened. As a result, the flow of water swept them away.

The family members notified the police around 9:00 PM last night.

Police services immediately went to the scene, where in about 4 hours they managed to rescue 4 people.

Meanwhile, searches continue to find the child, about 7 years old, who is suspected of being taken from the riverbed.
