Renowned Albanian painter, Kujtim Buza, passed away on Thursday evening, leaving his family, friends, acquaintances and all lovers of his art in sadness.
Through a post on social media, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, stated that Buza was a painter, researcher and one of the important names in Albanian visual art.
Kujtim Buza belonged to a family that is inextricably linked to the history of our art. Son of Abdurrahim Buza, one of the founders and masters of modern Albanian painting, he grew up surrounded by art and continued this legacy with his own creative journey, building a profile and a prominent contribution to the artistic life of the country.
"From the studio where he once painted next to his father, to his many years of creativity, the direction of the National Gallery of Arts and his engagement in the cultural life of the country, Kujtim Buza dedicated his entire life to art. His works, also present in the collection of the National Gallery of Arts, are part of a heritage that enriches our cultural memory," writes Gonxhja as he expressed his condolences to the Buza family, relatives, friends, colleagues and the entire community of artists.
