Athens was rocked on Saturday evening, July 2, by two bloody shooting incidents within minutes in Kato Patisia and Agioi Anargyrou.
As a result, two people lost their lives, one of them on the spot, while the other was seriously injured, where he did not survive his injuries in the hospital.
There were also three other wounded, two policemen and a civilian, while it is learned that one of the people who shot is Albanian.
It all started shortly after 9:30 in the evening, at the intersection of Georgiou Nazou and Kourtidou streets, in Kato Patisia.
Two cars were crossed there, the drivers of which argued fiercely and fought, exchanging insults, and as a result, a massacre took place.
The first driver got out of the car and opened fire, seriously injuring the other driver. The driver who was hit by gunfire fought for his life, but later died in hospital.
A few seconds later, his seriously injured passenger got out of the car and when he tried to leave, he was hit by a passing vehicle.
The two wounded were transported by EKAV ambulances to the "Pammakaristos" hospital, where the one hit by the shots did not win the battle for his life, despite the efforts of the doctors.
Panic has prevailed in the area since the first moments of the bloody event, both for the rest of the drivers and for the pedestrians who tried to escape in any way to escape the bullets.
While the author of the shooting, of Albanian origin, according to the first information, abandoned the car and with the threat of the gun he was holding in his hands, he stopped another car that was passing by, forcefully disembarking its driver and with that he left the area.
The author of Albanian origin, driving the stolen car at high speed, headed towards Agioi Anargyrou and was spotted at 124 Dimokratias Street, where he allegedly intended to commit a robbery in a bar.
There he abandoned the stolen car and tried to leave on foot. Seeing the Rapid Action patrol car rushing to the scene from a distance, he mistook it for a taxi, eyewitnesses later testified, and signaled it to stop.
After he got close enough and understood what it was about, he shot the two officers, who returned fire, killing him.
The two police officers were slightly wounded, from the shots they received, one in the leg and the other in the bulletproof vest on the shoulders. Both were transported by EKAV ambulances to Military Hospital 401.
The young man wounded in Patisia by bullets was taken to the hospital in a very serious condition and was intubated. The injured passenger was taken to the same hospital.
The case was handled by the Homicide Department of the Attica Security Directorate, while the Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos and the Chief of the Hellenic Police Konstantinos Skoumas visited the injured policemen in the hospital.
