The Tirana court has sentenced Matilda Bilali, the wife of former police officer Arben Bilali, who was executed in Tirana, to 5 years in prison. BW writes that due to the shortened trial, Bilal's sentence is reduced to 3 years and 4 months in prison and converted into probation.
According to the prosecution, Matilda Bilali tried in January 2020 to help her mother-in-law travel to Great Britain, who decided to leave the country after the murder of her 3 sons. The elderly Kumrije Bilali was detained in Rinas and while she was under investigation she poisoned the boys' graves and died. Arben Bilal and two other brothers were killed earlier than he was to be executed. In addition to Matilda Bilali, the court sentenced 3 other officers, Liri Sinakoli, Aranit Dibra and Arta Mamani, to probation.
There are no convicts for the murder of the 3 Bilali brothers, while crimes without perpetrators continue. For the murder of Arben Bilal, the 'strongman' of Myslim Shyri, Gjergj Cukali, was arrested, but the accusation against him was dropped after the DNA evidence was deemed unusable.
