Although they have not produced a single kilowatt hour of energy to date, the Albanian government through KESH continues to pay the staggering rent of the floating power plants anchored since last September in the Triport of Vlora.
There are 94 thousand dollars that fly every day, while the total bill is 68 million dollars.
The Minister of Energy, Belinda Balluku, herself has spoken out several times about the scandal, who in December of last year promised the citizens that in January and February the two floating power plants would be leased and with the exotic names "Tigri 1" and " tigri 2" will be put into production.
"For the future in energy, we have important and aggressive plans, we will continue during the month of January and during the month of February to put into production the two electricity production ships that are already stationed at Triport", declared Balluku in December 2022.
Practically, with the current energy prices in the foreign markets, the two thermal power plants do not produce energy profitably, but it is not understood how the Albanian government did not take this fact into account for a moment in order to make a flexible contract.
Not only that, but the two leased production units have not received production licenses from the Energy Regulatory Authority, an institution that the government actually has full control over.
"To make a summary of what we will be proud of in 2023, as Ergysi said, we already have two generating units that are ready for production...", Balluku stated on January 9, 2023.
Minister Balluku expressed pride on January 9 of this year for the 68 million dollar contract, but in the meantime she must bear legal responsibility for the scandal, as it is Albanian taxpayers' money that is paid without producing a single kilowatt hour of energy.
It is not clear why SPAK has not yet opened a file on this pure abuse of public funds, but the facts and evidence are there and the burden is entirely on the high state officials, and not on the foreign company which is in its own right as he is offering the service./News24
