The Special Court of the First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime sentenced Astrit Avdyli to 12 years in prison more than a year ago, but the leader of the Shijak Gang will have to return to the first instance trial once again.
This was today's decision of the GJKKO Appeal, which changed the decision of the first instance for some of the accused for the heroin laboratory in Has. The appeal of GJKKO decided that the trial for Astrit Avdylin should be restarted once again in the first instance with a different panel of judges.
The appeal also overturned the decision for the accused Jasin Avdyli (Kala), who increased the sentence from 7 years to 12 years in prison. The appeal decided that Fatos Llaftiu from freedom be returned for trial in the first instance.
While Denis Laftiu was found not guilty, the verdict was changed to 10 years in prison. The only decisions that the GJKKO Appeal upheld was the sentence of 15 years in prison to Xhemal Shala and Iskender Sales.
