Ardian Sharra, 51 years old, and Valbona Laloshi, 41 years old, have been convicted of money laundering by the British authorities, after they are accused of trying to pass more than 200,000 pounds from Great Britain to Italy. The decision was made today, three years after their arrest.

Sharra was sentenced to 18 months of probation and 200 hours of unpaid work, while Laloshi was sentenced to 12 months of community service and 50 hours of unpaid work.

The couple were traveling with their three children and were stopped by the police, before whom they said they were going to visit relatives in Brescia, Italy.

They initially declared to the officers that they had five thousand pounds with them, for dental treatment during their stay in Italy.

But during the search a further £14,000 was found in Lalos' bag and more than £200,000 was found hidden in a suitcase in the boot of the car.

Numerous documents were found at the couple's home for dozens of large cash deposits into bank accounts operated by the couple.

Sharra and Laloshi had deposited more than £110,000 into their accounts in the past year, more than five times their legitimately declared earnings for the same period. Doubts were also raised about the vehicle in which the family was traveling. Sharra had bought the Mercedes for £11,000 and paid it in cash just two months earlier.
