The head of the Magistrates' School, Arben Rakipi, who is also the head of the working group that drafted the new criminal code, during the first round of public consultation, presented for discussion several points related to the decriminalization of offenses that the current code punishes with imprisonment.
Among these acts, he mentioned the practice of prostitution, taking as an example Italy and France where there is no punishment and it is not considered a criminal offense.
According to Rakipi, this criminal offense has already received widespread support and is openly demonstrated on social networks, even among minors.
He said that it is useless to consider prostitution a criminal offense.
" The project aims at decriminalization. I don't know when it will happen because it is related to the measures of other laws. To decriminalize the practice of this profession."
Unfortunately, I have to use the term profession. The penal code and the French code do not punish the practice of a profession.
Our proposal is not for reasons of similarity to what happens in Europe because that would not be enough for me, it would be an expression of plagiarism.
I think that the Albanian terrain is no longer dominated by criminal cases, especially in this field. This type of profession has received widespread support, which is openly demonstrated by influencers of the lives of minors or others in the country.
"As a result, the criminal case is now useless. This is the basis for our proposal, " Rakipi declared.
