"To be abandoned even after death", 9 months after the execution in
Arben Lleshi

" To be abandoned even after death ", this is the case of Arben Lleshi .

The person sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his friend in Great Britain was executed by Sokol Mjacaj inside his cell in the high security prison in Peqin in December 2023.

However, when 9 months have passed since the day of execution, Arben Lleshi's dead body continues to be kept in the Tirana morgue.

His family has so far refused to retrieve the body and perform the burial ceremony, likely fearing reprisals.

They even claimed that the victim was not their relative, which forced the institutions to conduct a DNA analysis to reconfirm the identity.

Despite this, the family has not yet reacted, even though they have already made it clear to the authorities that the victim is citizen Arben Lleshi, their relative.

In such conditions, the prosecution must take measures, issue the authorization for Arben Lleshi to be buried by the Municipality. So far this authorization has not been issued.

Arben Lleshi was sentenced to life for the murder and then burning of Agim Hoxha in Great Britain in 2012. He was arrested by the authorities there and extradited to Albania where he was serving his sentence, when he was executed by Sokol Mjacaj, a convicted life imprisonment for the murder of two Czech tourists in Prekal, Shkodra. But since the macabre murder of Agim Hoxha, the Lleshi family has lost 4 members.

Arben Lleshi's two uncles, Xhavi and Hajredin Lleshi, were killed in 2013 and 2016, while his two cousins, Artan and Klevis Lleshi, have disappeared without a trace.

The convict Lleshi is suspected to have been executed for revenge for the murder of Agim Hoxha, but the investigators have not yet revealed the name of the orderer, while the executioner Sokol Mjacaj has refused to speak.
