SPAK launches investigations into 26 election crimes for May 11

Over 70 criminal reports have been filed with the Special Prosecution Office so far for suspected electoral crimes believed to be related to the May 11 elections, while SPAK has registered 26 criminal proceedings out of them.

In 26 cases reported or ascertained mainly by investigators, the Special Prosecution Office has found elements of electoral crimes for the May 11 process and has registered criminal proceedings, continuing with in-depth investigations.

7 of these proceedings, where suspicions of involvement in corruption or other electoral crimes committed by senior officials were raised, were registered at the initiative of SPAK itself.

Of these, 24 materials were published online as part of the SPAK task force, established in January of this year and which mobilized this structure on the ground to investigate electoral corruption.

The rest of the complaints were made in the traditional way via mail.

SPAK has deployed 16 prosecutors in the field, 3 of whom in Tirana, 3 in Vlora, 2 in Fier and 1 in each of the other 9 regions. Investigators from the National Bureau of Investigation have also been deployed in the field.
