The Special Court has addressed the Ministry of Interior, the State Police, and the AMP regarding the situation created in front of the GJKKO where supporters of Mayor Erion Veliaj gathered during the February 12 session to verify the security measure.
In the letter, the GJKKO says that the Republic Guard has requested assistance from the State Police to guarantee the perimeter outside the Special Courts and SPAK, but there has been no reaction. According to the GJKKO, this situation has created difficulties in the movement of judges, both during the course of the court session, and has also compromised the safety of their lives and health.
The GJKKO also brings examples of two protests held by the Freedom Party on December 6, 2024 and Sali Berisha's protest on January 6, 2025, requesting to be informed about the measures taken in these two cases and why the same action was not taken in the case when Veliaj's supporters gathered in front of the GJKKO.
The GJKKO requests the Ministry of Interior to take the appropriate measures to hold all responsible persons of the State Police, who have not taken the appropriate measures to avoid or monitor this unprecedented situation, administratively or legally accountable.
" Through the above letter, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime has addressed the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of the State Police, to take the necessary measures to bring to administrative or legal responsibility all responsible persons of the State Police, who have not taken the necessary measures, in accordance with the law, to avoid or monitor this unprecedented situation.
Also, this court has requested that the entire legal procedure followed and the plan of measures taken in similar cases such as during the protests of 6.12.2024 and 06.01.2025 be made available to it, as well as an argumentative explanation with evidence why the same practice was not followed in the case of the incident of 12.02.2025.
Currently, the court is awaiting a response from the competent authorities, in order to pursue other institutional avenues according to constitutional and legal provisions ," SPAK and GJKKO write.
