Candidates aiming to lead SPAK after December 18, when Altin Dumani's mandate ends, will still have time today to apply. A day earlier, SPAK prosecutor Elvin Gogaj applied to the High Prosecutorial Council. Today, Adnand Xholi, Doloreza Musanelliu and Klodian Braho are also expected to submit their applications.

The new head will be elected from among SPAK prosecutors for a 3-year term without the right to re-election. The selection of the head of SPAK is based on experience in sensitive issues of corruption and organized crime; leadership skills, a credible vision or plan for organizing the Prosecution Office, the public image of his career, etc.

After verification of the prerequisites, the Career Development Committee, no later than 10 days from the closing of the candidacy period, presents for approval at the plenary meeting the list of candidates who meet the candidacy requirements.

Voting for the head of the Special Prosecution Office becomes open and nominal, and the new head is elected by the candidate who receives the most votes in the Council, so it is enough for him to receive one more vote than the other candidates.

In the event that two or more candidates receive an equal number of votes, the Council, with the participation of all members present, conducts a second vote between the candidates with an equal number of votes.
