Scandal/ Oxygen generators are missing in QSUT, heart operations are cancelled.

In the cardiac surgery service, surgical interventions have been stopped because the operating rooms lack oxygen generators, very necessary materials in the room when heart interventions are performed.

In this service, only one or two interventions are performed which are very urgent cases, others are sent to private hospitals or those who have planned interventions will have to wait until the rooms are equipped with oxygenators.

This is clearly demonstrated in the courtyard of the cardiac surgery service, which is empty these days as there are no family members waiting for their relatives. The surgeons in this hospital are put in trouble in front of the patients and their relatives, who have to refer them to private hospitals when they cannot wait.

The cost of cardiovascular interventions in a private hospital varies from 6 to 12 thousand euros. Sources of Top Channel say that they have patients waiting for intervention since four months.

The former deputy and doctor Tritan Shehu also found himself in a difficult situation, when a relative required urgent surgical intervention. But when he learned about this situation, he did not spare the comments on his Facebook page, which were followed by reactions from citizens.

This is the first time that an important service such as cardiac surgery has stopped working. Due to numerous cardiovascular problems, on a typical day, an average of 4 surgical interventions are performed and about 60 oxygenators are needed in a month. The QSUT Directorate has been able to provide some oxygenators only for emergencies, while the tenders to provide them are carried out by the Ministry of Health, which has delayed the tender procedures./Taken from Top Channel
