In addition to admitting that a 1-year-old child with two negative parents may have been infected with HIV/AIDS in the hospital system in Albania, health authorities in Albania have neglected or deliberately not tested children who were hospitalized at the same time and the same wards as the infected 1-year-old.
According to the answers the parents have received after the child born on October 8, 2021, was identified with HIV AIDS on March 2, 2022, in an epidemiological investigation at their request, the ISHP has tested only the medical staff, in the "Queen Geraldine" maternity hospital where the newborn he stayed in resuscitation, and in QSUT, where at different times the child was admitted to several wards.
But no one tested the 135 babies who were in the maternity ward on the same dates as the 1-year-old, from October 8 to October 15, 2021. Meanwhile, the ISHP report does not indicate the number of children admitted to the pediatrics department of QSUT in the laying periods from November 28 to March 2, 2022.
"I will move forward because I have all the possible evidence that the proper epidemiological investigation was not carried out because as they did in the period of COVID they tracked the cases in this case they are not doing it for the simple reason because they are afraid that there are children others infected that I wish and hope from the bottom of my heart as a parent that there will not be. The other fact is that there may be other children who are carriers of the virus and do not know it. So these honorable children choose silence to pass this matter in silence, but I absolutely do not give in to absolutely any kind of communication from their side", says the father.
Newly born in October 2021, the child had to be admitted to the intensive care unit of the Queen Geraldine state maternity hospital. The baby stayed there for a week, from October 8 to October 15, 2021.
The second encounter with state hospitals in Tirana was in the Pediatric Reanimation at QSUT from November 28, 2021 to December 9, 2021. According to the medical record mentioned in the PIH investigation, the child improved from the treatment received, although the parents claim otherwise. And in fact, it didn't take long and on January 31, 2022, the little child, only 3 months old at that time, was again admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit with a temperature of 39 degrees. On February 1, 2022 - the report states - the child was discharged from the hospital with outpatient treatment.
The next admission would be on February 20, 2022 in the pneumology ward. The hospital stay was 4 days, until February 24, 2022. With the serious condition of the child that was not recovering, at the end of February, according to the parents, one of the child's doctors, Ilirjana Bakalli, for the first time hypothesized that the child could be infected with HIV/AIDS.
The first parents did several tests for genetically transmitted diseases, but none of them turned out to be carriers of HIV/AIDS, while in their knowledge the child was tested for this virus. On March 2, 2022, the answer to the analysis brought the result that the two new parents did not even imagine. Their child tested positive for HIV, even though they themselves, after several consecutive tests, continued to test negative.
In a summary that the PIH has sent to parents, it is said that the investigation started in April 2022 and ended in June. There it is emphasized that the health personnel who served the child were tested for HIV, but that they cannot release the report with their names as evidence in the hands of the parents and their lawyer, as it violates the law on the protection of personal data.
"For what reason did you start the investigation so late and why did you not provide the parents with the result of the investigation? Why didn't you add all the analyzes you performed, such as taking samples at the Queen Geraldine Hospital in the operating room, taking samples during the first hospitalization that the son had in the Queen Geraldine Intensive Care Unit, and normally the samples from the hospitalizations at QSUT," the father continues. of the child.
Unlike the staff, who authorities say have been tested for HIV, the children who were hospitalized at the same time as the 1-year-old have not been tested for HIV/AIDS. According to the PIH investigation report, the registers in the respective wards where the child was admitted were examined to identify any cases diagnosed with HIV Positive (from the first page of the document), so no child was tested.
The parents also talked on Whatsapp with dr. Silva Binon to ask for answers as to why other children's blood samples were not taken, when their little one, too, suddenly tested positive for HIV and no one knew before.
Silva Bino on Whatsapp
Father: Mrs. Bino, you told me that only the personnel were tested.
Doctor: Yes, it has been tested by name and surname
Father": It says there have been no other children with HIV. I'm sorry, how was it proven?
Doctor: It was not found to exist from the database check of persons with HIV.
Father: I'm sorry, what about us as parents?
When they themselves say that they were destroyed on March 2, 2022, a date they will never forget, without the presence of a psychologist, the parents find illogical the argument under the breath of the health authorities, that they did not test the other children hospitalized in the same periods with the little one, so as not to shock their children!
