Croatian Customs officials, in cooperation with the border police, have prevented an attempt to smuggle a significant amount of money at the Karasovic border crossing.
During a routine check at the exit of Croatia, authorities discovered 702,435 euros in undeclared cash hidden in the vehicle of an Albanian citizen.
According to the official announcement from Customs, the money was not declared according to the regulations in force, raising doubts about the purpose of its transport.
The operation was carried out as part of increased surveillance measures, undertaken by officers of the Anti-Smuggling Service and the Mobile Customs Units in Dubrovnik, in cooperation with the Dubrovnik-Neretva Region Police Administration.
The Albanian citizen has been detained by the authorities and is being investigated for the criminal offense of currency smuggling.
