Albanians have not escaped the efforts of the new German executive to increase the level of repatriations.
The well-known German media outlet, Welt, quotes Günter Krings, deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, as having called for the expansion of such flights, while the latest plane with rejected Albanians departed from Hanover.
"This is more than a symbol," Krings is reported to have said. "These flights need to be intensified. We need more such return flights and deportation measures, because asylum law has two sides: We want to give protection to those who need it - but also to deport those who do not really need it, or who have lost this right after committing violent acts," were his comments.
The senior official added that "we also want to make it clear to people that those who need and can leave the country should not expect the same level of support from the German state."
Krings immediately supported "the system of detention pending deportation for criminals and the reduction of benefits for all those who must and can leave Germany."
A plane departing from Hannover-Langenhagen Airport on Monday bound for Pristina and Tirana was reportedly carrying around 70 deportees, including those convicted of various crimes.
