The stay in the cell for the Italian businessman from San Giustino, Davide Pecorelli, has lasted only two days. He was released today at the request of the General Prosecutor led by Sergio Sottani.

Albania is awaiting his extradition, and the notice of the arrest on Saturday said:  "The team, at the instigation of the International Police Cooperation Service, has proceeded with the provisional arrest for the purposes of extradition to Albania of the Italian citizen Davide Pecorelli. Today's arrest documents have been sent to the Prosecutor General of Perugia, Sergio Sottani, to be submitted on Monday for verification at the Court of Appeal of Perugia"

Davide Pecorelli, on January 6, 2021, fabricated his murder and burning inside a "Skoda" type car, in the village of Gjegjajn in Puka and was reported as dead, but 9 months later, on September 18, 2021, he was found alive on the island of Elba in Tuscany.

He is accused of the criminal offenses of "Destruction of property by fire", "False reporting", "Illegal crossing of the Albanian border" and "Exercising commercial activity without a license".

Along with the Italian, two of his Albanian collaborators, whose names have not yet been made public by the prosecution, have been charged.

For the two Albanian citizens who have been charged as accomplices of Pecorel, an arrest decision has not yet been made, but they are prosecuted at large.

Davide Pecorelli, had left Italy for Albania on January 3, 2021 from Rome's "Fiumicino" airport. He arrived in Albania for the cosmetic products business he owned, where he stayed one day in Vlora and then returned to Rinas. It was in this area that he rented a "Skoda" type vehicle, traveling in the direction of Puka.

He stayed in a hotel in this city and as he left, his car was found completely burnt on January 6, 2021. From this date, until September 18, 2021, for 9 months in a row, the police and prosecutors of the two Italian states and Albania, had no trace of Pecorelli.

The preliminary suspicion of the investigators, that Pecorelli could have been killed, was created because some bones were found in the burned car, which after the analysis proved to belong to a dog.
