Problem drivers who have a negative accident history will pay more for car insurance.

The Financial Supervision Authority has approved the new regulation for the calculation of the insurance premium, where the prices that drivers will pay for mandatory insurance will be differentiated based on 7 risk factors.

The regulation was presented to the Economy Committee by the head of the Financial Supervision Authority, Mimoza Kaçi.

"It involved 7 risk factors, for which we have available data. These factors will affect the insurance premium.

1 - Claims history, work has been done on the authority's claims database, this register is supplied by the insurance companies and maintained by the authority, efforts are being made for the companies to have access to this information on the damages of a driver.

2- Engine power, the higher the cubic capacity of the vehicle, the higher the damage it causes, and the higher the insurance premium.

3- The age of 18-21 years is the most penalized age in the vehicle insurance policy.

4-  Driving experience.

5-  The use of the tool, whether it is a subject or a company, since when it is a business tool it is used by some managers

6- Vehicle registration district, which is related to accident incidents by district.

7- The age of the vehicle", said Kaçi.

The new regulation will enter into force from January 1, 2025, and according to the head of the AMF, differentiated insurance will affect the awareness of drivers.

" It enters into force on January 1, 2025, by the end of this year we will prepare the process. This period will also serve to raise citizens' awareness of the benefits they have with this important system of securing funds. It will bring more careful driving for drivers. Any damage caused will affect the price of the following policy. The calculation of the premium by the insurance companies will be public ", Kaçi said.
