Sazani still on fire, Peleshi: The most dangerous hearths have been isolated

Sazan Island is still burning with flames. For 24 hours, powerful flames have engulfed the territory.

Over 80 members of the army, firefighters and protected areas have worked intensively to extinguish the fire but have not been able to bring it under control yet.

Minister Peleshi stated that the main hearths have been brought under control.

Pelesh Post:

At the moment it seems that some of the most dangerous fires in Sazan have been isolated. The troops of the Armed Forces are working diligently in conditions when intervening in the remaining hearths is difficult due to the relief and the night.

The sacrifice and professionalism of the Armed Forces deserves appreciation.

I appreciate all the concerns and opinions expressed without hesitation, but we rely on experts in the field who estimate that the most effective technique in the case of fire on the island of Sazanin is to insulate the hearths by creating deforested belts around the hearth.

We have built relationships with all our partners and the European Civil Protection Mechanism to activate additional air support during the summer season, without wasting time if deemed necessary by experts.

Of course the priority is the protection of the life of the inhabitants and then of the flora and fauna as well as our natural and historical heritage.

Unfortunately this summer will also be very hot. We will stand with municipalities to support coping with potential emergencies. But we also need volunteerism and commitment from everyone to face emergency situations together, instead of turning them off the keyboard even more.
