Dozens of citizens held a protest this Sunday against the construction of the Skavica hydropower plant. The protest was organized by the Association for the Protection of Property in the Drini i Zi Valley and took place in the village of Fushë Muhurr.

Residents of the area consider the construction of Skavica as a "genocide" for Dibra.

The construction of a lake as large as predicted in the quota of 443 meters will drown 32 villages, 16 thousand hectares of agricultural land and land, will displace 12 thousand inhabitants. The social and environmental effects will be catastrophic, as it will destroy the entire area of ​​Dibra, and will divide it into 2 parts, thus destroying Dibra.

Protesters say they will strongly resist until the project is canceled, while the next protest will be next Thursday in the village of Katund i Ri in Luzni.
