The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana is also investigating the deputy director of QSUNT, Brikena Qirjazi , charged with duties for the oncology service for the charge of " Abuse of duty ".

Her name appears in connection with the  Kobalto-Therapy apparatus for the treatment of patients diagnosed with tumor diseases and especially skin cancer diseases.

In the file it is evident that since 2021 when this device arrived in Albania and until today, it has not only not been used but has been left in unsuitable conditions, becoming a source of danger to the medical personnel themselves as a result of the possible radiations that emits this device", informed the prosecution.

As a result of the investigation, prosecutor Valikaj received the testimony of one of the doctors of the Oncology Hospital regarding the concern he had raised about the presence of cobalt rays in completely unprotected indoor environments.

His debate with the leaders of QSUT, especially the deputy director Brikena Qirjazi, continued for about a year, but he did not succeed in convincing them to move the devices to safe premises, and for this reason he decided to leave as it was affecting the health of All of you.

The file states that when he was told that there is a source of cobalt near the radiology cabinet, he asked for the data. This was refused under the pretext of confidential information. With his knowledge, an expert from the Vienna Atomic Agency came there after it became possible to put the device into operation.

It was transmitted orally after measurements performed with the device turned on and without patients, i.e. in the air, the doses in the corridors of the oncology center were about 20 times higher than the allowed rate.

After that, he asked for a meeting with the leaders of QSUT, where the report would be presented to him, and everyone together would make a decision as soon as possible to correct the problem. His request was to remove the apparatus from unprotected premises to protected premises and transform it into an environment as required by normal standards.

The meeting was held under the guidance of the deputy director of QSUT Brikena Qirjazi, and other participants.

This meeting, instead of giving a solution based on the truth of the facts, turned into a trial against the doctor and the question addressed to him was whether he had been irradiated or not and this question was asked by the deputy director Brikena, repeated several times that should it caused the radiation.

From the beginning of the meeting, the doctor requested that the meeting be recorded so that everyone would be responsible for what they said, but after a few minutes it turned out that nothing was being recorded.

The doctor told the investigators that the surprise from this meeting was from the responsibility of the radiation protection office at QSUT, which issued a letter that he did not see fit to read, which claimed that QSUT was licensed to store radioactive waste.

Since the meeting was not being recorded, the matter for which they had gathered was not being discussed, the doctor saw fit to leave.

After several months that he had left the Oncology Hospital, due to his disagreement with the working conditions that were approaching him, he found out from his colleagues that measurements were taken by foreigners and a record was left which was submitted to the directorate of QSUT and it turned out to be an unsuitable environment neither for work nor for the possibility of transformation for the bunkers.
