The special unit of the State Police, "Fast Albania" in cooperation with Interpol Tirana and the Blues of Durrës have arrested a person just a few hours after being declared wanted by Interpol Rome.

Citizen Afrim Gjergji, 46 years old, a resident of Durrës, was arrested in district no. 18 of the coastal city.

"Interpol Rome announced an international wanted list for this citizen, yesterday, after the Court of Pordenone, Italy, has sentenced him to 11 years of imprisonment, for the criminal offenses of "Sexual relationship with violence" and "Domestic violence", provided by the Criminal Code of Italy. The 46-year-old man was convicted by the Italian authorities, after having violent sexual intercourse with his wife, threatening her, as well as physical violence and hitting their children with hard objects." - said in the Police announcement.

Following the actions, citizen Afrim Gjergji was provisionally arrested. Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with Interpol Rome, continues the procedures for the extradition of Afrim Gjergji to Italy.
