Sazan Island

Following the signing of an agreement a few days ago between the three line ministries, starting this Friday morning, tourist and maritime vehicles will be allowed to visit the island of Sazan.

The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy have signed a trilateral agreement that allows, in addition to tourist and naval ships to approach Sazan, vacationers and tourists to stop there to visit it.

But according to information provided by the port authorities, the entire island of Sazan cannot be visited, but only designated areas, which have been made known to marine administrators, also from the experience of past years.

Visits to the island of Sazan will be allowed until September 30, so starting from May 30 until the end of September, tourist ships will be able to stay on the island and vacationers to visit the military zone. But this deadline still remains debatable because if there is demand, the possibility remains open that the deadline can be extended throughout October, responding to the interest of domestic and foreign vacationers. There is also no shortage of requests from yachts, foreign naval vessels.

According to information, there are dozens of tourist boats, speedboats, and dinghies that have already received annual permits to visit Sazan Island, visits that are only allowed during this period as the high-security military base remains closed to visitors.

These maritime vehicles, which are embarking on their journey to Karaburun and Sazan, must first notify the Directorate of Border and Migration of their departure, providing information about the destinations they will visit and, above all, about the capacity they have on board.

It is worth emphasizing here the fact that this only applies to visits to Sazan Island, as those on the Karaburun Peninsula are allowed throughout the year for tourist ships and domestic or foreign vacationers.
