Work in the state is more coveted by women in 2022.

Official data from the Department of Public Administration (DAP) show that 61 percent of applications for vacant positions were made by women, while men took only 39 percent of them.

Compared to the previous year, there is an increase in applications from women, who in 2021 accounted for 58 percent of applications, while men accounted for 42 percent of them. Changes to this report vary from year to year.

For the year 2022, according to DAP data, there were a total of 3926 applications, while 830 civil servants were appointed to fill the civil service.

Average age of applicants, 35 years

The report shows that the average age of those who managed to successfully pass a competition procedure for admission to the civil service during 2022 was 34 years old.

"Compared to the average age of the applicants, it turns out that those who have successfully passed the competition procedure have a higher average age. The difference between the average age of applicants and those who have successfully passed the admission procedure is relatively high, which indicates that candidates with more experience are more successful in a competition procedure", DAP assesses.

According to the report, it is noted that for the year 2022, new employees were recruited in the state administration through; (i) the admission procedure in the executive category; (ii) appointments from the winning list of the executive category and; (iii) appointments from outside the civil service in the low and middle management category, a total of 443 officials, or 53% of the total appointments, of which 421, or 51% of all appointments belong to the executive category and 22, or 3 % belong to the lower and middle management category.

Meanwhile, the percentage of vacancies filled with candidates from outside the civil service only for the low and middle management category, was 9.4% of the total appointments in these two categories.

Tenure, average 38 years

The DAP report underlines that in addition to general recruitment and applicant data, it is also valuable to understand some elements of candidate profiles.

"That's why some of the indicators focus precisely on the age of the applicants, for different categories of positions. The data shows that the average age of those applying, regardless of the type of procedure, was 31 years old, meanwhile, the average age of applicants to be admitted to the civil service was 28 years old and the average age of those applying for promotion he was in office for 38 years", says this report. /Monitor
