Privatization of the former "Partizani" complex, SPAK: 4.3 million
Sali Berisha

The privatization process of the former "Partizani" complex has caused the state a loss of 4.3 million euros. This conclusion was reached by the Special Prosecutor's Office, which closed the investigations and communicated the charges to Sali Berisha, Jamarbër Malltez, Fatmir Bektashi and Xhimi Begeja.

In the investigative file of 500 pages, it is said that the damage caused to the state was done due to the depreciation of the buildings that were located on the sports land, which was then turned into construction land.

According to SPAK, the two members who were appointed to the building evaluation commission of the "Partizani" complex were related to Fatmir Bektashi, the builder, Argita and Jamarbër Malltez. In the file it is said that 53 million ALL was paid for the evaluation of the buildings out of 489 million ALL which was the real value.

From the investigations of the two prosecutors Arben Kraja and Enkelejda Millonai, the file states that the construction of the complex was not only done on the land that belonged to them as owners, but also on an area of state land of about 857 square meters, for which no payment was made. The Special Prosecutor's Office claims that the value of the damage caused is around 23 million ALL.

The two SPAK prosecutors claim that Malltezi took over the construction permit within 12 months of signing the contract. Former Prime Minister Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi were introduced on Wednesday with the charges brought against them. Both are accused of passive corruption carried out in cooperation, but Jamarmbër Malltezi has an additional charge, which is cleaning the proceeds of the criminal offense. The other defendant, Fatmir Bektashi, is accused of active corruption, while Xhimi Begeja is accused of "money laundering".
