President Bajram Begaj participated in the opening ceremony of the Mediterranean Games "Taranto 2026", in support of the Albanian sports team, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella.

The Head of State was received by Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Afterwards, President Begaj watched the opening ceremony of this important sporting event from the stands.

Albania is represented at "Taranto 2026" with 71 athletes in 17 disciplines, among them athletes with important results in the European and international arena.

"Taranto 2026" takes on special importance for Albania, as the next edition of the Mediterranean Games will recognize the hospitality of Albanians with Kosovo as the flag-bearer.
