A building that functioned as an asylum for the elderly on "Ali Visha" street in Tirana was engulfed in flames shortly after midnight last night.

It is learned that 4 elderly people have been sent to the hospital where they are receiving treatment and are out of danger.

" On 05.10.2024, around 00:15, the Police received a notification that a fire broke out in an asylum on "Ali Visha" street and the elderly staying in the asylum were trapped. Services of Police Station No. 1, together with the services of the Special Force Sector "Shqiponja", immediately went to the given address and in cooperation with the fire service, evacuated the residents and made it possible to put out the fire. 4 elderly people have been sent to the hospital for medical help, and they are out of danger for their lives , Tirana police informed this morning.  

From the inspection of the scene and the first investigative actions, it is suspected that the fire started accidentally.
