Arrests for illegal betting

Eight people have been arrested for organizing or participating in illegal sports betting games, during a police operation in Tirana.

The arrested, mostly young men, were caught in various bars, placing bets through illegal websites.

This action has intensified in recent days, as the government has yet to issue any of the 10 licenses since the law was passed earlier this year.

Police Announcement:

The Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Sector, in cooperation with the Economic and Financial Crime Investigation Sector, the Special Operations and Investigation Sector and the "Eagle" Special Force, is finalizing the police operation codenamed "Bad spin 13".

During this operation, based on police intelligence, subjects and citizens who carry out the illegal activity of organizing and adapting premises for organizing illegal lotteries, in various venues in Tirana, were identified.

During the controls carried out in these entities, 8 citizens implicated in this criminal activity were caught and arrested in flagrante delicto: MM, FF, Xh. H., MB, GD, F. Rr., Xh. D., and AM, residents of Tirana.

Citizens GK, Sh. B., GN, and G. Xh. were also released on bail.

The 12 mobile phones of these citizens were seized as material evidence.

The materials were passed to the prosecution.
