Tensions escalate at opposition protest, fireworks and tear gas are thrown (VIDEO)

Scenes from the protest

Tensions have escalated at the opposition protest being held on Tirana's main boulevard.

Protesters threw fireworks at law enforcement, while police responded with tear gas to disperse the crowd.

"Go arrest Belinda Balluku and Edi Rama, not the citizens protesting against corruption," said democrat Gazmend Bardhi, addressing the blue uniforms.

This clash comes after officers prevented protesters from crossing the security perimeter set up for this protest.
