Views from the new port of Durres

Prime Minister Edi Rama has made public the images of the project of the New Port of Durrës, which will be an integrated project with the project of the Durrës-Prishtina railway and the dry port in Prishtina.

Trade exchanges between the countries are expected to increase greatly from this project while the railway will serve for the transport of containers. While for the Prime Minister Edi Rama this project increases the positions of the states in the Balkans. 

The project for the construction of Porto Romano includes the construction of the Dry Port that will be in Pristina, which is expected to have a terminal, where 100 thousand containers will be processed by 2050.

While Porto-Romano will have an area of ​​400 hectares with a capacity of 2 million containers up to 50 million tons. It is also expected to host up to 1 million passengers. Through this project the distance to Pristina is expected to be reduced to 265 kilometers.

The aim is to make possible the integration of port and railway infrastructure between Albania and Kosovo by realizing a world-class gateway to the Western Balkans, said in the presentation of the project the director of the Dutch company.

The investment project in Porto Romano, at its completion is estimated to have a positive impact on Albania's GDP from 3% to 6%, while for Kosovo there is still no accurate calculation, as its land port will have more capacity low.
