Noise pollution in Albania is above the European Union norm in most cities.
The large flow of vehicles, their motor condition, construction works, the lack of a protective green belt between residential areas and main roads are some of the noise factors in the country.
"December 21 remains the noisiest area during the day, not only in Tirana, but in all of Albania. According to the latest report of the National Environment Agency for the year 2022, here the level of noise during the day exceeded by 25% the standard of WHO and Albanian law", reports TV Klan.
Shkodra and Tirana are the two loudest cities in the country. Shkodra produces the highest noise pollution during the day, while Tirana at night.
Citizens experience the consequences up to hearing loss directly. The quietest cities are Kukësi and Berat.
"The monitoring of urban noise for 2022 shows that in the city of Kukës we do not exceed the level of noise during the day and at night. In the city of Berat, we do not exceed the norm at night", announced KTA.
Recently, through a special instruction, the limit levels of any kind of noise have been determined, which will be inspected by the state and municipal police. Fines from 5,000 Lek to 50,000 Lek are provided for violating the norms.
